About The Artist
Brian Sciatto has been working with wood for the last 33 years
and has been woodcarving for the last 30 years. Brian learned to carve wood from
his uncle Don Luter, who passed away at a young age when Brian was 17 years old.
His family has always been very supportive, especially his late grandfather
Frank Sciatto, Sr., who would supply him with the wood and tools he needed. He
would also come up with many challenging projects for Brian to do. Brian has
been a member of the Livonia Wood Carvers and the National Woodcarvers. He has
been the chairman for all the carving competitions for the Livonia Wood Carvers.
He has appeared in several local papers and a wood carvers publication called
"Chip Chats". He has also appeared on television on the show "Good Morning
Detroit". Brian has received numerous ribbons for his work. Some of his projects
have been: Hand carved solid wood doors and mantles, people and animal
caricatures, birds, ventriloquist dummies, several puzzles and games, novelty
items (wood chains and balls in boxes made from one piece of wood),
furniture, wood turnings, and scroll saw work.
